Public Comment Form
The proposed action, Valhalla Gas Exploration and Appraisal Program was referred to the Minister for Environment on 16 September 2024 (2024/10006). It was determined that additional information (Preliminary Documentation) is required to inform the assessment and a decision on the Project under the EPBC Act. You are invited to make a comment on the draft Preliminary Documentation for the proposed action.
The draft Preliminary Documentation specifies Matter of National Significance (MNES) that have been considered as a ‘controlled action’. A ‘controlled action’ is an action that the minister decides has, will have, or is likely to have, a significant impact on a protected matter. A ‘controlled action’ is assessed further before the environment minister decides whether to approve it. Terms are described in the Glossary of terms for regulatory activities under the EPBC Act – DCCEEW. Please note only comments on MNES addressed in the Preliminary Documentation will be replied to by Bennett Resources Pty Ltd.
To make your comment as helpful as possible, please state:
- why you believe the proposed action is or isn’t a controlled action
- whether the proposed action has an impact on protected matters
- how the proposed action will have that impact
- which parts of the proposed action will have an impact on a particular protected matter
- the source of key information to support your views, if possible.
If you think the referral information is misleading or incorrect, tell us why and give us the right information if you can.
Submitters may provide multiple comments on this page; please ensure the correct ‘Comment Topic’ is selected for each submission.
Electronic submission is the preferred method for lodging comments, as it enables:
- consistent record-keeping;
- reduced processing timeframes;
- compliance with statutory timeframes; and
- minimisation of personal information handling across multiple channels.
Written submissions will only be accepted where individuals are unable to submit comments electronically due to digital access limitations, disability, or other significant barriers. In such cases, individuals may seek assistance from a support person, community organisation, service provider, or authorised representative, who may submit an electronic submission on their behalf if requested.
Where a written submission is provided, the submitter must include an explanation outlining why electronic submission is not possible.
